ASDI News, 2007-2008

In March, 2008, at the annual meeting of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America in Savannah, GA, ASDI's Mr. Andre Papantonio presented "The Use and Misuse of Mindfulness Meditation in the Treatment of OCD" and Dr. Sally Winston presented "What Might Be Going Wrong When Patients Don't Get Better." Mr. Michael Checknoff, Mr. Carl Robbins, Ms. Eve Berkow and Dr. Steve Shearer all attended the ADAA conference.

ASDI's Dr. Steve Shearer authored a review article entitled, Recent Advances in the Understanding and Treatment of Anxiety Disorders, in the October issue of Primary Care: Clinics in Office Practice (2007, 34:475-504) and a review article entitled, Help for Your Patients with Specific Phobias (with co-author, Michael Dwyer, M.D.) in the November issue of Patient Care: Neurology and Psychiatry.

On August 22, 2007, ASDI's Dr. Steve Shearer presented Grand Rounds entitled, "The Worry-Prone Patient (and Physician)" to the Department of Family Medicine, University of Maryland Hospital.

At the 27th National Meeting of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America in St. Louis, ASDI's Dr. Sally Winston who also serves on ADAA's Clinical Advisory Board, presented a case consultation seminar. ASDI's Dr. Steve Shearer presented, "Brief Intervention for Anxiety Disorders in the Primary Care Exam Room." ASDI's Ms. Joan Pfeiffer, LCSW-C and Mr. Carl Robbins, MSEd, MS, LCPC also attended the ADAA conference.
