NEW GROUP FORMING:
GROUP THERAPY FOR ANXIETY DISORDERS
Led by Andre Papantonio, Licensed Clinical Professional
Counselor
This group is for adults (18 and up) who suffer from any of the
anxiety disorders. The chief approach is mindfulness-based
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Participants are taught a graceful
way of relating with unwanted, anxious thoughts: to neither block
nor try to change or chase away those thoughts, but merely to
recognize them as symptoms, to tolerate them and to allow them to
go away by themselves. This gentle approach does not seek to
control the mind, but rather embodies the slogan, "You don't have
to believe everything you think."
The group will meet every Thursday from 5:45 PM to 7:15 PM. Cost is
$35 per session. It is not time limited; patients may participate
for as long as they and the therapist agree is indicated. Each
participant will meet with the therapist for an hour of evaluation,
at no charge, before joining the group.
Andre Papantonio, LCPC, has over thirty years of experience with
anxiety disorders, and has presented on the topic at the annual
conferences of ADAA, the Obsessive Compulsive Foundation, NASW,
etc. Please call him at 410-825-1257 to inquire further about the
group.
