Like the bumper sticker, "Don't Believe Everything You Think," this new bumper sticker from ASDI reminds us that our thoughts often lead us in irrational and irrelevant directions that are not to be taken seriously--yet we do. We can be healthier by accepting that our thoughts are largely flotsam and jetsam floating through our brains rather than reacting to them as the litmus test of reality. As in mindfulness meditation, our worried, angry or self-critical thoughts can often be accepted as "just thinking" rather than Important Thoughts that must be contemplated fully until we feel miserable. Try to cultivate this healthier approach to the contents of your thinking.
