The 30th Annual Meeting of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America was, for the first time, held in Baltimore such that most of our staff attended. ASDI's Carl Robbins, LCPC, presented on Treatment of Paruresis. Dr. Sally Winston presented Anxiety Disorders 101, an introductory course for clinicians, as well as leading a Master Clinician discussion group. Several ASDI clinicians presented a symposium on Fear of Flying: Dr. Steve Shearer presented Thirty Years of Fear of Flying Consultations: No, It's Not Usually a 'Simple Phobia' and, Yes, Turbulence is Often Existential As Well as Phobic. Recent ASDI intern, Robert Clark, MS, presented Development of and Potential Generalizability of a 3-session, In Vivo Fear of Flying Class, (Stephnie Thomas' outcome data from her fear of flying class). Stephnie Thomas, MS, LGPC, presented More Than Psychotherapy: Practical Lessons Learned Out of the Office While Treating Clients with a Fear of Flying. Local private practice psychologist, Dr. Shreya Hessler, also presented Treating Aviophobia in Clients with Developmental Disabilities.Dr. Sally Winston also spoke at the memorial tribute for ADAA founder, Jerilyn Ross.
